This was the weekend for showers and volunteering!! We had two types of showers at my parents house this weekend. One was Saturday morning for Tim(family friend). The guys gave him a tool shower before he gets married and has to start house projects and lawn care! My dad and Brian cooked pancakes on the grill and the guys were completely in charge of the shower. Of course, the ladies did all the prep work! It was really funny, b/c the guys wanted us gone before the men showed up. We basically got kicked out, but that was ok, b/c I went to breakfast with my mom and Sherri and Tam. On Sunday afternoon, we gave a baby shower for Tamara! She looks so cute and we can't wait for little Luke David to arrive in June!
Now for the volunteer work...This past week was the Oklahoma City Arts Festival. The past 2 years Brian and I have volunteered to work the sales tent. Basically, that means when someone buys something they bring us the receipt and pay us and we give them a receipt back to go pick up their art work. We worked Saturday evening and it was absolutely crazy! The weather was gorgeous, so there were lots of people there! We had fun, got to eat some yummy food and see lots of interesting people!!
Sunday morning was the 13th Annual Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon. It is hard to believe it has been 13 years since the federal building bombing in OKC. I can remember the day it happened when I was in high school. The marathon started its first year with about 4,500 people participating in it and this year I heard around 17,000 people participated in the marathon. This year Brian's company was a sponsor and we volunteered to pass out gatorade and water to the runners as they came by. We had to be there at 6:00 AM, but it was very rewarding to be able to help in a small way. We were at the 7 mile mark and you could tell those that had been training for a long time, b/c 7 miles was nothing to them. They were still smiling and having a good time at that point! We saw several people we knew. I even saw a girl that went to Baylor, but for the life of me I can't remember her name!
We have had a relaxing week so far. Brian is working a few less hours and I am winding down the school year! I can't believe after this week there are only 3 weeks left!! I hope everyone is doing well! Have a great week!

So, the tornado is long gone and there really hasn't been much else going on right now. I don't have any pictures to update you with at this time. One, because I am at school, and two because I really don't have any.
Last week we attended a Baylor dinner auction that was in OKC. Well, actually I was in charge of the auction! I am on the Baylor Women's Council of OKC and just found out that this next year I will be President! I am not sure what I am getting myself into, but I am really enjoying volunteering for different organizations around the area. Our guest speaker for the dinner was the new head Baylor football coach, Art Briles. He seems like a really great guy and I am excited to see what he will do with the football program! We are still waiting for the final total amount of money raised for the evening, but in the auction alone we raised over $1,700.00!! Which was great! The money raised helps go toward our scholarship fund that we give to an Oklahoma Baylor student every semester.
We have a big weekend coming up next weekend with lots of events, so hopefully I will have more to tell and show! Hope everyone has a blessed week!
